Rapper Cardi B faced severe backlash following her rather lewd performance at this year’s Grammy Awards. The 28-year-old set the stage on fire as she danced the night away with fellow artist Megan Thee Stallion, to their hit track WAP. The artists delivered an X-rated act as they danced on a pole and laid on a bed, leaving audiences stunned. After her performance, Cardi was asked by an Instagram follower why she doesn't allow her two-year-old daughter Kulture to listen to her music, reported Mirror UK. "But how is she empowering women with her music but doesn't let her daughter listen to it? Don't you want to empower your daughter also?"

Responding to the trolls, Cardi wrote, "I don't make music for kids. I make music for adults. Parents are responsible on what their children listen too or see. I'm a very sexual person but not around my child just like every other parent should be.” She added, “Stop expecting celebs to raise your kids.”

The singer continued, "My daughter doesn't need to listen to music to be empowered and neither should your children. The only way to empower your kids is by talking to them, boost their confidence and making sure they get a good education." Cardi and Megan’s duet enraged parents who were watching the show with their children, with many of them criticising the Grammy’s for airing their performance in the first place.

Cardi denied having ever said that WAP was made to empower women. Cardi stated, "I never ever said that. I'm just a freaky person and this is not the first sex song ever made.” Her comments came after her heated feud with Fox commentator Candace Owens. In response to him, Cardi tweeted, "Yaaaayyyyyyy we made Fox News guys! Wap wap wap." While appearing on Owens Tucker Carlson's show, Candace said the WAP performance was "an attack on American values, American traditions.” She also accused Cardi and Megan for “actively trying to make children aspire to things that are grotesque.”
