RAWALPINDI:

The Punjab government has revised the timings for business activities in Rawalpindi in a notification issued here on Sunday. After a meeting with the administration, the traders have agreed to close markets at 7:30pm, five days a week while they would remain closed on Friday and Saturday.

According to details, the provincial government had directed to shut down all markets, except medical stores and shops selling essential items, at 6 pm after a rise in coronavirus cases amid the third wave.

The markets were ordered to be completely closed on the weekend. However, the decision had raised concerns among the traders and they met with Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat and MNA Sheikh Rashid Shafique for a revision in timings and closure days.

A delegation of traders held a meeting with Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anwarul Haq and an agreement was reached. The traders have also assured DC that they would comply with all precautionary guidelines in the markets.
