ISLAMABAD:

Justice Qazi Faez Isa of the Supreme Court on Wednesday conveyed to a 10-judge full bench headed by Justice Umar Ata Bandial that files (of wrongdoings) could also be opened against other judges.

Justice Isa, while giving rebuttal on Additional Attorney General Chaudhry Amir Rehman arguments against for live telecast of the court proceedings, stated that he was not interested whether he would survive the case or not, the bigger issue before him and for which he was standing here, however, was to uphold the dignity and security of other brother judges.

Justice Isa argued that he was not interested in securing his position as a judge, adding that he might get pension, if resigned. “I am contesting the case for the sake of maintaining the dignity of the institution and its reputation.”

Justice Isa also stated that ‘files’ regarding every judge are being prepared.

The judge produced record of the social media campaign against him. He also shared tweets wherein he was alleged as a corrupt judge.

However, Justice Umar Ata Bandial observed that there was no allegation of corruption against him.

Justice Isa said that the purpose of producing the record was to get a permission for live coverage of his case in order to rebut all allegations against him.

He said that if he was crooked then he should be thrown out from the court, adding that his family and he has been maligned for the last two years.

However, Justice Umar Ata Bandial urged Justice Isa that he should not be negative in his approach.

He said that the Supreme Court is a court of law and they are not sitting here merely to consider the statement of government functionaries.

Sarina Isa, the wife of Justice Isa, while reading out her written statement, stated that Mirza Shahzad Akbar engineered a proxy informant, namely Abdul Waheed Dogar, who then addressed his complaint to him.

She wondered as to why the government functionaries are opposed to live broadcast of the case.

“Does truth terrify these gentlemen. They simply want to obstruct the truth and the course of justice. They deny me, a woman, who they defamed from being publicly heard and want their false propaganda against me to prevail.

If I lie then I am prepared to publicly exonerated," she submitted before the 10 larger judge hearing Justice Isa plea for live telecast of his review petition against the June 19, 2020 order.

The hearing of case was adjourned until today (Thursday).
