Gauahar Khan banned from working post SOP violation
The actor allegedly attended a film shoot despite testing positive for the coronavirus
This week, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) filed an FIR against Bollywood actor Gauahar Khan for flouting Covid-19 guidelines. The star was booked by the Mumbai civic body for attending a film shoot despite testing positive for the novel coronavirus infection. “When we went to her home, she did not open the door. She had gone to a film shooting. An FIR has now been registered against her,” Hindustan Times quoted an official as saying. Following this, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a non-cooperation notice to Khan, which specified she has been banned from working for 60 days.
While tweeting a copy of the FIR, the BMC posted, "No compromise on the city’s safety! BMC has filed an FIR against the Bollywood actor for non-compliance to Covid-19 guidelines after testing positive. The rules apply to all alike and we urge citizens to follow all guidelines and help the city beat the virus."
Responding to the notice, Khan took to Instagram and shared, "Inshallah maa as saabreen Sabr n Shukr." She added, "The truth shall always prevail." In a joint statement, signed by FWICE President BN Tiwari, general secretary Ashok Dubey and treasurer Gangeshwar Srivastav, the trade body said, "It was a very irresponsible act by Gauahar Khan because she not only risked her own life but also the others who were on the set."
The FWICE shared it condemns Khan for resuming shooting even after testing positive for the infection, despite being advised to quarantine herself. "Her act is highly irresponsible and is against the strict guidelines laid down by the Government of India and Maharashtra issued for the media and entertainment industry post resumption of shootings in Maharashtra. It is indeed a serious offence," it added. However, Khan’s team responded to the statement, writing, "For everyone sending their best wishes and concern for Gauahar Khan, here is the latest report. She has tested negative in multiple reports. She is a law-abiding citizen and complying with all the norms of BMC.”
