While celebrating his 56th birthday on Sunday, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has announced his departure from social media earlier this week, reported Filmfare.

The announcement, posted to all of Khan’s social media accounts read, “Hey guys, thank you so much for all the love and warmth on my birthday. My heart is full. In other news, this is going to be my last post on social media, considering that I’m SO active anyway, I have decided to drop the pretence.”

Aamir Khan’s next to reportedly be a sports drama

The 3 Idiots star has roughly 3.6 million followers on Instagram, 26.7 million on and 18 million on Facebook but despite this, he rarely ever posts. With this in mind, the announcement comes as no surprise. Khan’s audience is used to gaining updates on his life through fan accounts and those of his co-stars.

However, in the same post, the Dangal actor also shared that his company, Aamir Khan Productions (AKP), is launching its own social media account. “We will continue to communicate as we did before. In addition, AKP has created its official channel! So, future updates on me and my films can be found there. Lots of love, always.”

This is welcome news for some fans as the new AKP account is expected to post far more regularly.
