After complaints of corruption in recruitment of police constables in Lahore, a similar case has surfaced in Chiniot district.
On Thursday, the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) arrested Candidate Testing Service (CTS) Operations Manager Amjad Javed in connection with a police recruitment scam in Chiniot.
The matter of tampering with the recruitment tests for the posts of the constables, women constables, drivers, and computer operators was referred to ACE on the directions of a court by Chiniot police after they registered a case against four candidates who had allegedly passed the test through fraudulent means.
The suspect is being interrogated after the anti-graft authority secured his three-day physical remand.
During the investigation, Javed reportedly revealed that he was operating through a frontman, Asghar from Lalian tehsil, who was an official of the meteorology department.
He said that he was responsible for the question paper setting, marking, dispatching and result in compilation for police recruitment in the province. He allegedly confessed to having minted money from over 50 candidates of Chiniot district.
He revealed that candidates who had paid money left the answer sheets blank and they were filled later.
Commenting on the matter, ACE Director-General Muhammad Gohar Nafees said the scam had put a question mark on the credibility of recruitment agencies.
