The case was reported to the Phandu police station by the wife of the accused, Mismat, in which she stated that her husband was a methamphetamine addict and had killed their one-year-old baby, Muhammmad Rehan, in a fit of intense rage during an argument.

The accused, Alam Khan, son of Awal Khan was arrested in a raid carried out by the police in a timely manner, based on the report submitted by Mismat.

Once arrested the accused confessed to killing his young child during the fight with his wife, while further investigation has been initiated based on this confession.

Last year In an effort to rid the Kyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) from the menace of drugs particularly the distribution, sale and use of Methamphetamine, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government planed to bring about strong legislation to rid society of this scourge.

The K-P Chief Minister Mahmood Khan stated, in January 2019 that the PTI government has set up the first-ever ice rehabilitation centre in the province providing free food, lodging and rehabilitation for addicts of the crystal-meth along with providing them training facilities to make them useful citizens of society, further adding that the government would go all out to facilitate all Ice addicts.

Methamphetamine addiction is still a growing concern in the country today.
