Milrem Robotics, the leading robotics and autonomous systems developer has unveiled its Type-X combat vehicle that is designed to increase troop survivability, have a lower cost of maintenance, and make warfare less lethal.
“The Type-X provides means to breach enemy defensive positions with minimal risk to own troops. If an RCV is lost, its replacement will become purely a logistical nuance, however, lives will have been saved,” said Kuldar Väärsi, said CEO of Milrem Robotics in a press release.

In February, Milrem showcased Type-X vehicle for the first time at IDEX, an international arms exhibition in Abu Dhabi.

If we compare Type-X with M1 Abrams, a tank that has been used by US and other countries for the past several years there is a vast difference. Type-X is 19 feet long, 9.5 feet wide, 7 feet tall, and weighs only 13 tons while M1 Abram weighs around 60-74 tons reports Popular Science.

Type-X is also faster than its competitor tanks, it has a high speed of 80 km/h on paved roads and 50 km/h off-road. The vehicle also has the ability to paddle through water that is 59 inches deep and can protect against bullets and weaponry.

The robotic combat vehicle can be installed with cannon up to 50 mm which will provide equal or overmatching firepower and tactical usage to a unit equipped with Infantry Fighting vehicles, says Milrem.
Further, Milrem’s innovative AI technology allows Type-X to move on its own through the battlefield. The vehicle is also equipped with features such as follow-me, waypoint navigation, and obstacle detection.
