Prime Minister Imran Khan with the support of his party and coalition parties received the vote of confidence in the National Assembly on Saturday. The premier received 178 votes in his favour.
The coalition party members soon took to the floor and reminded Imran Khan of his promises and asked him to stand by them now that he has emerged with stronger support in the National Assembly.
MQM leader Kahlid Maqbool Siddiqui said that now it is the premier’s turn to give this trust back to the people.
“It time to consult and seek an opinion from your allies during important decision-making process,” he stressed adding that if nothing else, then at least promise us a dream where a framer can be represented by a farmer in the assembly, not a landlord.
“Let us pave a way for a new Pakistan and not only dream about it,” the MQM leader said.
Siddiqui added that MQM has stood by the government and will stand by no matter what.
“We promise you that we will be with you as we want that Pakistan becomes the nation that our founding fathers dreamt it would be,” he stated.
Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination and GDA leader Fahmida Mirza said why was the charter of democracy signed if horse-trading in the house is not to be discussed.
“The onus is on the Election Commission of Pakistan,” she said adding that the Parliament is not the parliament anymore as it is losing its prestige.

“The NA speaker and its office are not respected as it was surrounded by the MNA’s and former prime ministers. What lesson are we giving to the people? I am sure they have lost interest in politics,” she said.
She further urged the NA speaker to run the lower house by rules and regulations.
Ever since this government came into power, it faced numerous challenges, be it FATF, LoC violation, economy and of course the Covid-19 pandemic, she said.

Minister of State for Climate Change Zartaj Gul said today's vote of confidence reflects that Prime Minister Imran Khan has earned more support.
"Prime Minister has waged a struggle for rule of law and transparency," Gul said. She said Imran Khan has volunteered himself for the vote of confidence which shows his great leadership.
Parliamentary Secretary for Planning, Development and Reform Kanwal Shauzab added that today parliamentarians have supported the narrative of honesty.
"Imran Khan is the guarantor for the safe future of the coming generations," she said.
Member National Assembly Javaria Zafar Aheer said that the opposition has lost its moral ground. She further said Imran Khan is fighting for an ideology.
"Prime Minister has always spoken for the welfare of people and the development of the country," Aheer added.
PTI leader Ramesh Kumar Vankwani said the increase of votes from 176 to 178 reflects the trust of members in Imran Khan's leadership.
Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan stated that the opposition is unaware of the fact that the prime minister performs well in challenges. "Vote of confidence has proved that opposition cannot face Imran Khan," Awan added
