MIR ALI:

The body of a man, who went missing in December 2007, was found during a road construction in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan district.

Muhammad Salam was a resident of Mir Ali tehsil who was whisked away by unknown people 12 years ago after which all efforts to find out his whereabouts completely failed.

Local residents told The Express Tribune that the remains of Salam were found when workers were digging the site for road construction.

The man had been buried with cloths and his CNIC was also found in the pocket along with some money which led to his identification, they said.

“His son was informed who recognised the body parts and cloths of his late father and took the body for burial,” they added.

According to the residents, Salam’s bones were fractured which is “an indication that he had been tortured before the death”.

The deceased last rites were also offered by the family and neighbours before burying the body.
