PAL chief eulogises late Dr Rasheed Amjad

The effects of thematic and stylistic changes in fiction since the 1960s can be felt in his work

Pakistan Academy of Letters Chairman Yousuf Khushk has expressed deep sorrow over the demise of renowned novelist, critic, and educationist Dr. Rasheed Amjad.

In a condolence message, Dr. Khushk eulogising the late scholar said Dr. Amjad achieved prominence among his contemporary writers through hard work, intelligence, and constant practice. As a novelist and critic, he was one of the most prominent figures in the literary scene.

He said that Dr. Rasheed Amjad was a very active and literary personality.

The effects of thematic and stylistic changes in fiction since the 1960s can be felt in his work.

More than a dozen of his legendary collections have been published, notable among them are “Bezar Adam Ke Batay”, “Rait Par Grift”, “Dasht-e-Khawab”, “Aam Adami Ke Khawab”, “Sa Pahar Ki Khizaan” while his research and critic books include “ Naya Adab”, “Shairy ki Siyasi-o-Fikri Rawait”, “Meeran Ji Shakhsiyat aur Fun” and “Pakistani Urdu Adab (Rawaiye aur Rujhanaat)". His memoir “Tamanna-be-Tab” has also been praised in literary circles.
