Police on Monday raided the cement store of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz’s (PML-N) senate candidate Abbas Afridi on the outskirts of Peshawar.
A large police contingent entered the store and searched it thoroughly before declaring it a mere ‘mistake’. They also searched the offices and other rooms in the building but left when nothing suspicious was found.
Police officials familiar with the matter later told The Express Tribune that they had received an intelligence report pertaining to a vehicle full of crystal meth that will enter Peshawar and will go to a store on Ring Road. This is the reason police conducted a raid but accidently entered the building owned by Abbas Afridi.
Later, Afridi hit out at the incumbent provincial government and its harassment tactics, saying that his office, which employs 70 people was raided in his absence. He contacted police high ups who apologised for the raid conducted by mistake.
