Over 250 Covid infections detected in Sindh

Pandemic claims seven more lives in Sindh

Sindh reported over 250 new coronavirus infections and seven more fatalities on Sunday.

According to Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, 262 new cases emerged when 10,057 samples were tested for the contagion, bringing the total number of confirmed Covid-19 infections in the province to 258, 265.

Thus far, the pandemic has claimed at least 4,350 lives in Sindh, said the CM, adding that 241,846 persons, including 384 overnight, have also recovered from the virus. A total of 3,019,691 coronavirus tests had been conducted in the province as of Sunday.

Karachi reported 129 of the 262 new cases. Of these, 70 were detected in district East, 25 in South, 13 in Central, eight in Malir, seven in Korangi and six new cases emerged in district West.

As many as 12,051 coronavirus patients are currently under treatment in Sindh, said the CM. Of these, 11,655 patients are in home isolation, eight at isolation centres and 388 are admitted in different hospitals. The condition of 352 persons was stated to be critical, with at least 42 shifted on ventilators.

Citizens were urged to follow the pandemic-mandated standard operating procedures (SOPs).
