Third-party password managers have recently become popular mainly because they are more encrypted than built-in password managers that come with your Apple or Google operating system.

iCloud Keychain remembers things, so that you don't have to. It auto-fills your information—like your Safari usernames and passwords, credit cards, and Wi-Fi passwords on any device that you approve.

Here is how you can move your password data to iCloud Keychain.

If you are using a macOS device:

If you have a macOS device simply go to your 'System Preferences' app and click on the Apple icon that is on the upper left corner. If you own a macOS Mojave or an earlier operating system then press the iCloud option.

Otherwise, select Apple ID and then click on iCloud. Go down the list of apps, and make sure that Keychain is checked.

If you are using an iOS device:

Go to Settings and tap on your name then proceed to click on iCloud and scroll down to Keychain, if your keychain option is off then tap on the entry and turn it on.

Import your password data

In order to get your data into Keychain, you need to import it into Safari on your Mac. However, unlike most password managers you can’t simply import passwords from a CSV file into Safari you will need Firefox or Chrome browser.

Once your passwords have been imported into one of the other browsers, open Safari, go to the ‘File’ option then select Import from option, and choose Chrome or Firefox.

Once this step is completed you can easily import Bookmarks, History, and Passwords, etc. To check If the import was successful, go to Safari’s top menu select ‘Preferences’ and click on ‘Passwords’. All passwords should be listed there.

Once the passwords have been imported into safari they should automatically be selected by the iCloud keychain.
