The Sindh High Court sought a progress report from Dadu Police on Monday pertaining to a minor's rape case and subsequent discharge from Liaquat University Hospital, Hyderabad.
The Dadu deputy commissioner, SSP and medical superintendent of Dadu Civil Hospital appeared before the court.
During the hearing, the police briefed the court on the investigation thus far.
The court was informed that the prime suspect, Ayaz Panhwar, has been arrested and had recorded his confessional statement before a judicial magistrate in Dadu. The clothes and blood samples of the vicitm and the accused had been sent to the lab at Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences, Jamshoro, for DNA testing, the police said.
The court sought a progress report from the police at the next hearing.
The rape was reported in Chanho Shahabad area, in the limits of B-Section police station, on February 17.
The four-year-old minor girl was recovered from the residence of the accused with blood on her clothes. She was initially admitted to LUH, Hyderabad, and discharged 12 hours after admission. She was subsequently admitted to Dadu Civil Hospital on February 18 and discharged the next day.
Missing persons
In another case, the SHC directed the police to submit a progress report on recovery of missing persons by March 29.
The court was hearing a set of pleas pertaining to the recovery of missing persons.
During the hearing, a petitioner informed the court that her husband, Mushtaq, has been missing for six years.
Another petitioner stated that her husband, Allah Wassayo, has been missing for 11 years. She maintained that 11 joint-investigation teams were formed for his recovery but no trace of him could be found.
The court directed the police to contact other provinces in order to recover missing persons and submit a progress report by March 29.
