At least 528,545 COVID-19 patients recover across Pakistan

No patient is currently on vent in AJK, GB, Balochistan; 56 deaths in the past 24 hours

In a clear indication that Pakistan is on the path to overcoming the COVID-19 infections, 528,545 people have recovered from the disease across the country.

As per the latest data released by the National Command & Operation Centre (NCOC), there is no Corona patient on the ventilator in Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Balochistan.

According to the statistics, the number of active cases across the country stands at 25,008.

Among these, 9,504 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 10,775 in Punjab, 6,595 in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, 4,995 in Islamabad, 597 in Balochistan, 377 in Gilgit, and 353 in AJK.

During the past 24 hours, 56 people lost their lives to the disease, 25 of whom died on ventilators. 48 of the demises took place at the hospitals. Most of the deaths occurred in Punjab, followed by Sindh.

As many as 1,165 tested positive for the virus across the country since Tuesday. There are currently 631 hospitals with the facilities to treat COVID-19, with 2,113 patients admitted across Pakistan.

Ventilators were occupied in four major areas, with the ratio remaining 37 per cent in Lahore, 33 per cent in Islamabad, 26 per cent in Peshawar, 21 per cent in Multan. There are as many as 247 vents across the country.

The beds with the facility of the oxygen were also occupied in four major areas, with the ratio remaining 61 per cent in Gujrat, 39 per cent in Peshawar, 31 per cent in Multan, and 22 per cent in Lahore.

Since the beginning of the outbreak, a total of 565,989 cases were detected, including in 9,562 in AJK, 18,954 in Balochistan, 4,943 in GB, 42,921 in Islamabad, 70,123 in K-P, 165,200 in Punjab, and 254,286 in Sindh.

Among the 12,436 deaths, 4,244 occurred in Sindh, of whom 11 died at the hospitals, 5,114 in Punjab (29 at the hospitals) 2,007 in K-P (seven at the hospitals), 486 in Islamabad, 199 in Balochistan, 102 in GB, and 284 in AJK (one at the hospital).

So far, 8,531,218 tests have been conducted across the country. There are 631 hospitals with COVID-19 facilities, with 2,113 patients admitted there.

Vaccination of healthcare workers

Meanwhile, the NCOC has asked all frontline healthcare workers to register themselves for the vaccine administration in their respective areas and centres.

So far, the vaccine has been administered to 32,860 health workers in Sindh, 15,494 in Punjab, 1,639,
1,013 in GB, 651 in AJK, 859 in Islamabad and 252 in
Balochistan.

According to the Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar, the frontline healthcare workers are the government's priority and all efforts will be made for their safety and protection so that they can work with the commitment to save precious lives.
