ISLAMABAD:

Efforts are afoot to set up telehealth kiosks at more shelter homes (Panahgahs) to provide medical care to its residents in addition to two-time meals a day as well as a night stay.

Prime Minister's Focal Person on Shelter Homes Naseemur Rehman told this to the media during his visit to a Panahgah at Tarlai located on the outskirts of the federal capital on Tuesday.

So far, he said the facility is fully operational at four shelter homes and that they have plans to establish telehealth kiosks at 25 Panahgahs by the end of the month.

"We are striving to transform the Panahgahs in the welfare centre where daily wage earners do not only get food and shelter, but also healthcare facilities in an encouraging environment," he remarked.

Rehman stated that as many as 130 shelter homes were fully functional and serving people across the country. He added that the kiosks were being installed in collaboration with a private company which is virtually connecting volunteer teams of doctors from Pakistan and abroad to empower marginalised segments of society.

The focal person said telehealth kiosks set up at capital's Panahgahs were getting tremendous response as about 500 dwellers have availed access to medical care.
