Watch: Hareem Shah to play Hareem Shah in web series based on Hareem Shah
A web series based on TikToker Hareem Shah’s rise to fame is coming out, and she will be playing herself to mark her acting debut.
Titled Raaz, the web series is going stream on Urduflix from February 26, and its trailer has already surfaced.
Opening with Shah throwing money into the air, the trailer goes on to hear a voice saying, “To gain an identity, are you willing to lose your identity? Lies sell like hotcakes in the digital world.” It also features the infamous clip of the TikToker slapping Mufti Qavi over an alleged “dirty and vulgar conversation.”
Flashes of Shah dancing in a club also appear, as she takes selfies with her fans. “You’re not crazy, you’re different,” a woman playing Shah’s apparent friend, tells her. “And those who’re different do something big in the world.”
But the trailer closes with Shah expressing her desire to be free because she is “fed up of the stereotypes”.
Written by Mansoor Saeed, Raaz is produced by Farhan Gohar, and directed by Asad Ali Zaidi.
Shah amassed over five million followers on TikTok last year and was among the leading voices objecting to the short-lived ban on the app. She stirred controversy after being linked to various politicians, including Sheikh Rasheed and Farooq Sattar.
