Akbar Bugti murder case: Centre seeks more time to extradite Musharraf
Court displeased with the pace of investigation.

The federal government has sought more time from the Balochistan High Court to prepare a response on the progress of former president Pervez Musharaf’s extradition.
Deputy Advocate-General Balochistan Malik Sikandar requested for an extension during the hearing of the Nawab Akbar Bugti murder case. A division bench comprising Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and Justice Hashim Kakar led the proceedings.
Additional Advocate General Balochistan Nasrullah Achakzai informed the court that the Balochistan government had asked the federal government to seek the extradition of former president Pervez Musharraf and others accused in the case. He said that the federal government has been requested to approach Interpol.
Deputy Attorney-General Malik Sikandar, on the centre’s behalf, said that more time was required to complete the letter that provincial government is supposed to prepare for the extradition of the accused. “The federal government is committed to ensuring the implementation of all decisions in the Akbar Bugti murder case,” he told the court.
The court expressed dissatisfaction over the pace of investigation. “A huge amount of time had already been wasted,” the court observed. The bench said that statements of people who had not been nominated in the case were being recorded while the “real nominees are yet to be approached”.
