Remove encroachments from irrigation dept’s land: chief secretary

He also instructed the divisional commissioners and SSPs to enhance their coordination on the removal of encroachment

Sindh chief secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah directed on Saturday the divisional commissioners, SSPs and DIGPs of all divisions in the province to remove encroachments from the lands of the irrigation department.

He also ordered the officials to devise and effective plan for the removal of encroachments from the lands of the irrigation department in a timely manner. The plan is to be implemented effectively, the chief secretary said.

Addressing a meeting via a video link, the chief secretary directed the divisional commissioners to monitor the anti-encroachment drives, and the DIGPs to provide assistance via police for carrying out the drives.

He further instructed the divisional commissioners and the SSPs to enhance their coordination on the removal of encroachment from the lands of the irrigation department, further directing the former to submit certification verifying that no state land was encroached upon in the respective jurisdictions after the completion of anti-encroachment drives.

He said the same certificated would then be submitted to the Sindh High Court, in line with its directives.
