Two brothers were gunned down in what appears to be another targeted attack here in main bazaar on Tehsil Road, Mir Ali of North Waziristan district of K-P Saturday.
Locals told The Express Tribune that unknown masked men opened fire at Ziaudin, killing him on the spot and leaving two others injured.
“Ziaudin was going on his bike with his 10 year old younger brother Muhammad when armed men who were in a vehicle opened firing at them from a very close range,” said locals.
“One of the injured is a passerby from Bannu who was in the market as labourer and the second one is a brother of Ziaudin identified as Muhammad who was critically injured and later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital,” they said, adding that the injured was also in critical condition. The attackers managed to escape after committing the crime.
After the incident police reached the area and cordoned off the entire locality and shifted the dead body to hospital for autopsy.
An FIR has also been registered against the unknown attackers.
A day earlier on Friday the bullet riddled body of a local 20 year old man Jadoon was found in the mountains of Mandi Khel. He had been kidnapped three days ago by unknown people from the crowded market place. He was a daily wage earner by profession and went to market to buy groceries as per his routine. Three days later his body was found.
Locals told The Express Tribune that masked men frequently target people in the same manner and police had failed to arrest the culprits even in a single case so far.
In 2020 alone around 45 people were killed in targeted attacks including tribal elders, traders and others.
This year a well known person Dr Waliullah was also mysteriously killed in North Waziristan who was going to his clinic with his friends in a vehicle.
He had no family feud with any one and local believed that it was a targeted attack.
