After nearly two weeks, a doctor succumbed to the wounds he sustained during a robbery at his clinic in Khayaban-e-Sir Syed.
The victim, Dr Irfan, fought for his life at the Poly Clinic Hospital (PCH) for 12 days before he passed away on Thursday.
Police said two armed robbers had barged in a private clinic situated in Rawalpindi’s Barafkhan Street on January 30. The suspects were looting the patients at gunpoint when the doctor attempted to save them, police added.
As the doctor resisted their robbery bid, the suspects shot him twice in the stomach, police said.
Pirwudhai police officials said a case of the incident had been registered against unidentified offenders and a hunt had been launched to arrest them.
After police handed over the body to the family after an autopsy, the victim’s funeral was held at the Syed Riyaz Hussain Shah Mosque.
Locals said Dr Irfan was a messiah for the patients and that he would charge a nominal fee for the past three decades.
