ISLAMABAD:

An Anti-terrorism Court (ATC) on Wednesday extended the judicial remand of five arrested personnel in Osama Satti murder case for 14 days.

The hearing was conducted in the presence of ATC judge Raja Jawwad Abbas Hassan. The investigation officer (IO) of the case filed an application seeking time to file the charge-sheet.

Granting his plea, the court adjourned the hearing until February 19. The jail authorities failed to produce the accused before the court due to a lawyers’ strike. On January 2, the five Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) personnel were taken into custody for indiscriminately gunning down the 22-year-old in Sector G-10 on Srinagar Highway within the jurisdiction of Ramna police station in the federal capital.

Previously, the lawyer for the victim’s family, Raja Faisal Younis, had requested the court to extend the remand of the suspects, saying that the IO had been changed on their request and a new witness had also come forward in the case. The IO was changed over allegations of colluding with the suspects.

The judicial inquiry report into Osama Satti’s murder revealed that the youngster was not involved in any robbery and it was confirmed that he was shot 22 times despite his car being stationary.

The report of the murder case proves the criminal negligence of the five shooters involved, terming them devoid of any humanity.
