Committee set up to explore means of revenue generation for KMC

The Sindh Services, General Administration and Coordination Department issued a notification on Monday, announcing the constitution of a committee to explore and examine new avenues of revenue generation for the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC).

Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah heads the committee and the local government secretary, Karachi administrator, public-private partnership unit director general, Karachi commissioner, a representative of the finance department and KMC financial adviser have been included as members in the committee.

The committee has been tasked with proper mapping of the KMC's assets, making recommendations for the restructuring of the KMC in terms of its revenue generation capacity and resources, preparing a plan for generating and augmenting its own financial resources from the KMC's assets and devising a plan for taking over medical services/ facilities from the KMC and other local councils of Karachi for the proper dispensation of such services by the Sindh health department.

Three months' time has been given to the committee to finalise its recommendations.
