An estate agent was shot dead during a robbery at his office in Surjani Town on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as 26-year-old Farooq, whose brother, Ali Rafiq, told The Express Tribune that some armed robbers had barged into the office and looted cash, mobile phones and other valuable, holding Farooq at gunpoint all this while. He added that while the robbers were collecting valuables, Farooq had managed to caught hold of one of them, but another robber shot him in the neck. The robber fled after gunning down Farooq, he said.
Rafiq further stated that Farooq was a body builder as well.
He has appealed to the Sindh government, Sindh Rangers director general, Sindh IGP and Karachi AIG to arrest Farooq's murderers and penalise them.
Speaking on the matter, the owner of a shop nearby Farooq's office claimed that "Surjani is turning into hub of crime and around 20 to 25 incidents such as the one during which Farooq was killed are reported in the area on a daily basis."
According to him, the police have been avoiding to take action against criminal elements in the area.
The shopkeeper demanded that police patrolling in the area be increased to ensure the safety of traders, businessmen and residents.
