Women police have registered an abduction case against the in-laws of a man on the request of his wife on Wednesday.

At least seven persons including two women have been nominated in the case as suspects, as per police report.

The suspects allegedly grabbed the complainant Mehwish and her husband Liaqat and took them to an unidentified location. They then brutally tortured the couple with sticks and warned them of dire consequences for marrying against the will of the girl’s family.

The complainant somehow managed to escape from the custody of the kidnappers however, she said her husband is still in their custody.

Young man’s private parts ‘mutilated by in-laws’

Mehwish Bibi, a resident of 67GB Mohalla Dhop Sari, said that she had voluntarily married Liaqat Ali on August 12, 2020.

Her brother Shaukat Shahbaz, a resident of Chiniot, was not happy with the marriage and on January 11, around 6pm, Shaukat and others came to her house and kidnapped the couple at gunpoint.

The complainant told the police that she fears for the life of her husband.
