I started acting because I wanted to challenge myself: Hadiqa Kiani
Renowned singer and now actor Hadiqa Kiani is drawing parallels between her onscreen character and herself in a video on Instagram.
The star relays that she ventured into acting because she wanted to challenge herself and her character from television serial Raqeeb Se, is just a layer of herself that she is exploring at the moment.
“I am doing acting because I wanted to challenge myself,” she says. “And the character of Sakina is representative of a layer deep within me. I’m barely scratching the surface of that layer right now,” adds the Jaanay Is Dil crooner.
“Every human has many layers and with Sakina, I am exploring a layer of myself, discovering it. I’m looking for myself. The more I absorb this character the more I realise how much pain and resilience it has.”
She then concludes by saying that acting is teaching her a lot and that it’s a learning process. Raqeeb Se also stars Nouman Ejaz, Sania Saeed, Iqra Aziz and Faryal Mehmood. The play has been written by Bee Gul, directed by Kashif Nisan, and is a Momina Duraid production
After paying tribute to Diriliş: Ertuğrul in 2020 and making her acting debut, the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz recipient also stepped into the realm of qawwali with Jaanay Iss Dil in January. Released in collaboration with Sufiscore, the qawwali features Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s (NFAK’s) patent tabla player Ustad Dildar Hussain, along with Zohaib Hassan on the sarangi and Irfan Kiani on harmonium.
