Five of a family die of suffocation

Bodies recovered two days after gas leakage at home

The bodies of five members of a family, including three minor children, were found inside their house on Tuesday.

According to the details, the family members had died of suffocation due to a gas leakage in their house situated in the Dadyala village near Naval Anchorage in the precincts of Lohi Bher police station.

All bodies were transported to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) after the police broke into the house.

Forty-year-old Naib Qasid Muhammad Rafaqat had been absent from his office for the last two days and he could not have been reached over the telephone as well, the police said.

Upon this, some of his office colleagues reached his home to check on him. They kept knocking on the door but nobody came out after which the visitors called in the police.

When the police broke inside the house, they found the bodies of Rafaqat, his 36-year-old wife, and three minor children lying on the floor. The children were identified as Hussain Ali, 10, Aamna Rafaqat, 7 and Muhammad Ali, 6.

The family hailed from the Gojri Qalandarabad village in the Abbottabad district, the police added.
