SHCC teams find 27 out of 176 clinics SOP-compliant

Warnings issued to 54 doctors in a week; 4,309 quack clinics sealed thus far

KARACHI:

The Sindh HealthCare Commission's Anti-Quackery Directorate teams found only 27 clinics following standard operating procedures out of 176 inspected in the past week, according to a statement issued by the regulatory body on Saturday. Besides, the statement added, the body has decided to set up an online portal for healthcare workers.

Warnings were issued to 54 doctors during these inspections and the anti-quackery teams claimed to have sealed clinics of quack doctors.

As many as 4,309 quack clinics in Sindh have been sealed thus far by the directorate, according to the statement.

Besides, the SHCC's Directorate of Clinical Governance organised a training session for physicians under the Minimum Service Delivery Standards. Ten physicians were trained on clinic standards during separate sessions on dealing with diseases, using protective gear, disposing off medical waste and implementing coronavirus SOPs.

Dr Zainab Hassan of the SHCC and health experts from South district attended the session. Moreover, 15 physicians were briefed on Greek medicine by physician and professor, Asif Iqbal.
