Bakhtawar, the eldest daughter of the late Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari, married son of a US-based businessman named Mahmood Choudhry in a daytime ceremony at Bilawal House in Karachi on Friday. Her brother, PPP chairperson Bilawal, shared some pictures and a sweet message for his newly-wedded sister on Instagram. "Happiest moment in many years to see my sister Bakhtawar getting married. Felt like our mother was watching over us in this moment of joy. Wishing them both all the best of for their new life together," he wrote.
Aseefa, the youngest Bhutto sibling, also wished the couple "a lifetime of happiness and joy" on their new journey. "I love you, my dear sister. I wish you a happy married life," she wrote. Here are some of the details noted at Bakhtawar’s nikkah:
· The outfit
In a shimmering gold speckle ensemble, Bakhtawar looked like a real-life princess. The embellished champagne floor length lehenga was complimented by a stone-coloured clutch, diamond and emerald jewellery and sleek hair. It was a Wardah Saleem ensemble, which the youngster chose with the motive of helping fellow Sindhi Saleem’s fashion brand. The embellishments done on the dress resembled the ones Benazir sported on her own big day.
· The makeup
Bakhtawar chose a neutral colour palette for her big day, only to compliment it with slightly styled hair, minimal product. The emeralds on her necklace were perhaps the only break in the entire ensemble. Most desi brides opt for traditional crimson gowns along with gold and red makeup for the wedding. But Bakhtawar decided to do things a bit differently, carrying a more natural look with open and lightly curled hair.
· The décor
High-end event planners from Lahore had arranged a Sheesh Mahal-like set up that they are known for. Ayra Events’ theme incorporated tradition into the big event by adding Sindhi woodwork benches complimented by a rilli quilt, where the groom can be seen seated on in his ivory sherwani and a flower veil. The event was nonetheless a sight to behold, covered in hues of ivory, gold and silver with a touch of red.
