KARACHI:

The Sindh High Court expressed annoyance at the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation officials for the municipal body’s failure to regularise city wardens. A two-member bench, comprising Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui and Justice Adnanul Karim Memon issued show cause notices to the KMC Human Resource Management Director Jameel Farooqui in a contempt of court case pertaining to the regularisation of city wardens. Irked at Farooqui’s reply, the bench issued a show cause notice and sought replies from KMC officials within three days. Earlier, the court had expressed annoyance at Farooqui for failing to appear for the last hearing on January 28 and had summoned him for the hearing on Friday. At a prior hearing conducted on November 5, 2020, the court had rebuked the KMC administrator and director over failure to implement judicial orders passed in March 2020 to regularise city wardens and issue their salaries. Thus far the KMC has failed to satisfy the court on its failure to do so.
