Netflix’s breakout French hit Lupin, in its initial five episodes, has ended on a huge cliffhanger and fans are eager to know how long they’ll have to wait. The streaming service has announced on Thursday that the show will be returning to our screens in summer.
Lupin stars Omar Sy as Assane Diop. The actor has done previous roles in The Intouchables, Jurassic World and X-Men: Days of Future Past. Diop takes inspiration from a fictional French thief Arsène Lupin who commits high-level robberies in order to get revenge on Hubert Pellegrini, the rich and powerful man who drove Diop’s immigrant father to suicide by framing him for a crime.
The promised second part of Lupin will consist of an additional five episodes. Episode six and seven are directed by Ludovic Bernard who is known from titles such as Taken 2 and The Climb. The rest of the episode, including eight, nine and 10 will be directed by Hugo Gélin, known for Love at Second Sight and Miss (2020).
The Netflix original has become the streaming platform’s most popular French show since its initial release. In the US, Lupin became the first French series to enter the Top 10 list, wrestling with Bridgerton for the first place in the US, UK and Australia.
