ISLAMABAD:

An Islamabad anti-terrorism court on Thursday remanded the Osama Satti murder case suspects in judicial custody and ordered the investigation officer (IO) to submit the case challan.

Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) personnel arrested in the Osama Satti murder case were present in the court of ATC Judge Shahrukh Arjumand as Judge Raja Jawwad Abbas Hassan was on vacation.

The judge ordered sending the arrested suspects, namely Mudassar Iqbal, Shakeel Ahmed, Mohammad Mustafa, Saeed Ahmed and Iftikhar Ahmed, to Adiala Jail.

Meanwhile, the deceased’s family members staged a peaceful protest outside the judicial complex.

Earlier on Monday, the ATC had ordered police to speed up the investigation. On police request, the court had extended for three days the suspects’ remand.

The court had, however, remarked that police had already been given the suspects' remand for 22 days. It had added that their remand could not be extended for an indefinite period if the police kept failing to complete the investigation.

The lawyer for the victim’s family, Raja Faisal Younis, had also requested the court to extend the remand of the suspects, saying that the IO had been changed on their request and a new witness had also come forward in the case. He had said the joint investigation committee was making efforts to complete the investigation.
