Farmers receive subsidy cheques in Potohar

Farmers were urged to avail the facilities provided under the ABAD’s projects

RAWALPINDI:

Cheques were distributed among those farmers in Potohar area who constructed water conservation resources for their agriculture lands.

Agency for Barani Areas Development (ABAD) Director General (DG) Abad Abdul Sattar Risani distributed cheques among the farmers under the government subsidy scheme in the Potohar region of Punjab. The officials of the Geology and Agriculture Departments were also present at the cheque distribution ceremony held on Thursday.

While informing the farmers regarding schemes initiated by ABAD, they were told ongoing and previous schemes launched by the agency aimed at economic prosperity of the farmers, conservation of water reserves in arid areas along the promotion of agriculture.

The farmers were urged to avail the facilities provided under the ABAD’s projects.

Deputy Director Geology informed the farmers about the best practices of agriculture and answered the questions of the participants. ABAD DG listened to the problems of the farmers and issued on-the-spot orders to resolve them.

The farmer representatives thanked ABAD DG and expressed the hope that through him, the problems of water shortage in the arid areas would be overcome soon and more land area would be made cultivable.
