Punjab Agriculture Department on Wednesday urged wheat farmers to apply fertilisers after soil analysis as it would help improve yields.
“Soil fertility and availability of water are important things that determine the production from farmland,” a spokesperson for the Agriculture Department said while talking to local farmers.
He said farmers who did not apply phosphorus at the time of cultivation should use mono ammonia fertilisers after consultation with experts of the department.
The farmers should mix the ammonia fertilisers in a drum of water and then spray their fields, he added.
“For wheat crop, the fertilisers should be applied by band placement drill to improve efficacy,” the spokesperson highlighted.
