The personnel of Counter Terrorism Department Operation 1 (CTD Op1) conducted a joint operation with the officials of an intelligence agency in Surjani Town on Wednesday and arrested the member of a banned militant outfit, Zainabiyoun Brigade. The arrested person was identified as Syed Muhammad Abbas Jaffery alias Sabbas. The authorities recovered a pistol from his possession.

According to SP CTD Operation 1 Arif Aziz, the arrested militant told them that he had received military training in a neighbouring country in 2014. The arrested person said that he was an expert in intelligence surveillance and the use of automatic weapons.

Sabbas is said to be a close associate of Yawar Abbas, a most wanted terrorist whose name appears in the red book. He has also sent several people to the neighbouring country for military training and thereafter used them to carry out terrorist activities in Pakistan.

Apart from being a facilitator of terror activities, the suspect would carry out reconnaissance activities for terrorist activities.

According to CTD, a team consisting of members of sensitive agencies and CTD has been formed to arrest his accomplices.
