16-year-old boy killed in Peshawar for 'turning down friend request'

The ‘culprit’ confesses to crime during police interrogation

PESHAWAR:

 A 16-year-old boy was killed in Peshawar’s Shahpur area allegedly for not befriending the ‘culprit’.

Gul Rehman, who has been identified as the victim, went missing four days back. His family had lodged a complaint at the Shahpur Police Station.

It was also revealed that the alleged culrpit Sher Akbar had also gone missing since the victim’s disappearance.

Police traced Akbar’s whereabouts from his mobile phone. Upon being interrogated, he confessed to killing Rehman and then proceeding to dump his body in the fields.

According to SP Rural, the police are awaiting a medical report to ascertain whether Rehman was sexually assaulted.

However, the initial autopsy did not confirm any form of abuse.

While speaking to media, ASP Chamkani Ahmed Zunair Cheema said that Rehman was a rickshaw driver who, according to initial investigation, was killed for not befriending Akbar.
