Citizens caught a robber red-handed as he was stealing a motorcycle outside a mosque in Saeedabad late on Friday night. They handed the robber, Muhammad Abdul Naeem, as well as his eight-year-old son, who was with him at the time, to the police.
The police later released Naeem's son, handing him over to his family with a warning.
According to the police, Naeem was a motorcycle lifter and had been making his son abet him while committing thefts.
The police added that Naeem had confessed to stealing motorcycles, dismantling them and selling off their parts. He would cut the chassis number and throw it away, and sell off motorcycles' other parts to a scrap dealer, they said.

Upon Naeem's indication, the police said, they found two stolen motorcycles and chassis and other parts of 38 others motorcycles from a house in Saeedabad.
The motorcycles were stolen from the jurisdictions of Saeedabad and SITE-A police stations, they added.
The law enforcers further stated that Naeem had been arrested earlier, too, in cases of motorcycle thefts in Saddar and Surjani Town.
Raids are being carried out to nab the scrap dealer to whom Naeem had been selling stolen motorcycles' parts, the police said, adding that a case had also been registered against Naeem.
In a video, Naeem's son has confirmed that his father would ask him to mount a certain motorcycle and he would then steal it.
