Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah issued directives on Friday for the beautification of Karachi, making security arrangements and taking measures for traffic management ahead of the multinational maritime exercise, AMAN-2021 that is to be hosted by the Pakistan Navy.
The defence exhibition will be held in Karachi from February 11 to February 16, centring on the theme of 'Together for Peace' and including the participation of 46 countries.
Presiding over a meeting, the CM reviewed the arrangements for the naval exercise and directed all civic bodies to decorate the city so that it had a "festive appearance" during the international event.
"It is an honour to host AMAN-2021 and therefore, all arrangements, including repairs, maintenance work, paint works and the installation of neon signs saying 'Welcome' should be done so that they reflect our hospitality," the CM said. "The objective of the exhibition is to enhance the positive image of Pakistan at the global level."
The CM further stated that the participation of countries from across the world in the event was testament to the good reputation of the Pakistan Navy.
"It is a testimony of the Pakistan Navy being a respected and professional force at global and regional levels," he said.
Besides, the CM said an increase in the number of foreign delegates visiting Karachi was a result of improved security situation in the city.
Saying so, he directed the relevant authorities to take measures for traffic management during the AMAN-21, take security measures, carpet roads, beautify roads and paint footpaths.
The Pakistan Navy has been hosting AMAN exercises since 2007, and ships and active command and special operations forces (SOF) of America, Russia, China and the United Kingdom Navies participate in the defence exhibition.
