‘Anaesthetists will get extra annual allowance’

Minister vows to pay Rs200,000 to specialists serving in the province

LAHORE:

Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid has announced that an extra annual allowance shall be given to anaesthetists serving in the district and tehsil headquarters hospitals.

While presiding over a meeting at the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department, the minister announced that allowance of Rs150,000 to Rs200,000 shall be paid to anaesthetists in the province.

The health minister said, “The summary for the hiring for another 691 positions in the department has been sent to Punjab Public Service Commission. This will include 79 seats for specialist anaesthetists because the government is trying to ensure their presence at all facilities.”

The meeting was attended by Secretary PSHD Captain (retd) Usman Younis who shared details of the current status of vacant and filled positions. Additional Secretary Development Omar Farooq Alvi and other officials were also present on the occasion.

Explaining the role of anaesthetists, Rashid said, “Their part is vital for surgeries at all district and tehsil headquarters hospitals. The details of surgeries in all hospitals must also be consolidated. Different proposals for another extra allowance for anaesthetists serving in remote areas are were also reviewed. To a great extent, the shortage of anaesthetists has been met in Punjab.”
