In what can best be described as a gruesome conclusion to a macabre affair as a result of excessive and unrestrained playing of violent video games, police discovered the body of a teenage boy who had fled home after killing his two siblings and injuring his mother by firing at them in Kori Dolal area in the precincts of Mandra police station on Sunday.
Police also recovered the weapon used by the 15-year-old suspect from where his body was found in a desolated area. The body was shifted to a hospital for autopsy.
According FIR registered by the maternal uncle of the deceased children, Muhammad Qasim, he had gone to visit his sister Nasira Bibi. His nephews Ahsan Zaib and Hasan were supposedly sleeping in another room.
Suddenly, they heard a loud commotion from the room and rushed there and witnessed the two brothers fighting over something.
In the meantime, Ahsan pulled out a pistol from beneath the pillow and started firing.
The bullets struck Hasan and their sister Asma and they died on the spot while their mother Nasra Bibi sustained serious injuries.
Consequently police registered a case against the suspect and started searching for him. However, his body was later found from a desolated site area on Sunday.
A police spokesperson said that the suspect had indicated ending his life when he was fleeing the house after committing the double murder of his siblings.
However it could not be ascertained definitely that the teenager had committed suicide.
Furher investigations revealed that Ahsan was a ninth class student and an avid video-game enthusiast.
However, his slain siblings used to admonish him for his obessive penchant for virtual fantasies and would stress upon him to concentrate on his studies.
It seems apparent that an argument on the same subject had ensued on the afternoon of the grisly fratricide. However, police officials disclosed that they would keep all aspects open during the investigation.
