Azerbaijan Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, who arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday on a two-day official visit, called on Prime Minister Imran in Islamabad.

“During the meeting, views were exchanged on matters relating to bilateral relations and regional and international issues,” a statement issued by the PM Office said on Thursday.

The premier expressed satisfaction over the cordial ties between the two countries and emphasised the importance of enhancing bilateral trade and energy cooperation.

PM Imran also extended sincere felicitations on Azerbaijan’s recent success in liberation of its occupied territories from Armenian forces in Nagorno-Karabakh region.

“On Azerbaijan’s call for support in reconstruction and development of liberated territories, the prime minister assured of all possible assistance from Pakistan,” the communique added.

Foreign Minister Bayramov conveyed cordial greetings of Azerbaijan President Ilhan Aliyev to PM Imran.

He also expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s support on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s consistent support and solidarity on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.

The Azerbaijan top diplomat also affirmed desire to upgrade bilateral cooperation in all fields.

A day earlier, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi held a delegation-level talks with his Azeri counterpart and discussed bilateral relations and exchange views on regional and international issues.

Both sides agreed to enhance cooperation in all filed including trade, agriculture, education, science and technology.
