Bollywood actor and former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen’s daughter Renee recently made her first acting debut with short film Suttabaazi. But before that, Sen gave her some valuable advice about her privilege. The short film was shot during lockdown and follows 19-year-old Diya, a rising social media star and secret smoker. The storyline also includes the cracks within Diya's family and the bonds which bind it together.
Renee as Diya is seen finding ways to smoke inside the house hiding away from a secret keeping it a secret.
In a detailed interview, Renee said that she understands how one has to earn their way in the field as a star. "I am aware of how privileged I am. I know there are lakhs of people coming to Mumbai to become actors. I don't want to boast but being Sushmita Sen's daughter has been the biggest privilege. So, the biggest disservice I will do if I am dishonest to my work," she told NDTV. "My mother always says that you must be deserving and you cannot just take someone's place because you are my daughter. If you don't earn it, then don't be in it. I am very lucky and I have to earn being here every day."
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Renee talked about mother’s feedback on her acting debut. Sen apparently got teary-eyed after seeing her on the screen for the very first time. “I think she cried a little. Alisah was very happy. She’s very observant so when she says you’ve done a good job, you know you’ve actually done a good job. And Rohaan uncle said he was very proud of me,” she said.
