Water and sanitation: EU, BRSP sign agreement

The project will serve a population of over 400,000 over two years in the districts of Jafarabad and Zhob.

QUETTA: An agreement worth one million euros has been signed between the European Union (EU) and Balochistan Rural Support Programme (BRSP) for providing water and sanitation facilities in the province.

EU counselor/Head of Operations Berend de Groot and Chief Executive BRSP Nadir Gul Bareach signed the agreement on behalf of their organizations in Quetta last night.

The signing ceremony was attended by provincial Health Minister Ainullah Shams, Additional Secretary Public Health Engineering Department Sheikh Mohammad Nawaz and government officials as well as NGO representatives. The project, titled the ‘Rehabilitation of WATSAN facilities in Balochistan’ will serve a population of over 400,000 over two years in the districts of Jafarabad and Zhob.

Groot said that the new water and sanitation project would improve the livings standards of the residents it catered to.
