Petition filed against Amitabh Bacchan’s covid-19 caller tune

Plea deems him unsuitable to be giving advice when he could not save himself from contracting the virus

A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Delhi Court to remove Bollywood Veteran Amitabh Bacchan’s voice from caller tune dedicated to novel coronavirus awareness, reported The Indian Express.

The petition contests that the caller tune is about precautions while the actor and his family have contracted the virus themself.

The petition was filed by a Delhi resident and social worker named Rakesh. He stated that the government engaged the star to make people aware for preventive measures against the pandemic while the celebrity could not prevent himself or his family from contracting it.

The plea stated that some famous warriors of Covid-19 who were willing to provide their services free of cost came up for the hearing before the chief Justice D N Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh.

“The government of India has been paying fee to Amitabh Bachchan for chanting preventive measures on the caller ringtone”, said the petitioner. “There are some corona warriors who have been doing great service to the nation and helping poor and needy people in these times as well as providing them food, cloth and shelter and it is very indispensable to mention herein that some corona warriors have distributed their hard earnings among the poor”, the plea added.

While referring to several matters pending against him in various courts, the plea concluded saying, “Amitabh Bachchan is not having a clean history and he is not serving the nation by being a social worker.”
