Kumail Nanjiani accused of 'taking steroids' for being 'too muscular'

While some body-shamed the star, others asked why Chris Evans, Chris Pratt didn't get flack for their transformations

Hollywood star Kumail Nanjiani left his fans speechless last year with his transformation making headlines across the globe. But when the Eternals actor dropped a New Year’s post over the weekend, the internet was suddenly divided.

Many mocked his ripped physique, suggesting that he was on steroids. Others felt his head had changed shape, requesting him to keep away from “the medicines Hollywood was making him take.”

It all started when Nanjiani shared a harmless, happy photo of himself enjoying a slice of cake on New Year’s. "Happy New Year, I celebrated with a Pandan Tres Leches cake from @marysmakeshop that made me rethink everything,” he wrote in the caption. "I only eat Pandan tres leches cakes from here on out. Hope everyone had a good and safe NYE. Here's to a better 2021 for us all," he added.

Following this, many started speculating if The Big Sick actor was on steroids. “Every celebrity transformation is due to steroids but kumail's is a lot more egregious because his head is changing shape,” wrote a user on Twitter.

“Someone needs to keep kumail from the steroids, man,” added another.

However, his fans rallied in his support, calling out people for body-shaming an Asian actor’s transformation, while excusing the like of Chriss Pratt and Chris Evans.

“Chris Pratt can bulk up for a marvel movie and everyone is cool with is. Kumail Nanjiani does it and people call him ‘grotesque’ and assume he’s using steroids. I hate it here,” said one user.

"Body shaming Kumail Nanjiani for...being jacked? Is way weird. Especially since all the Chris’ have done the same super-soldier program and never got any flack for it. I wonder what the difference is?" asked another.

"After Chadwick Boseman’s death there was a lot of talk about “never make fun of people’s bodies, you don’t know what anyone’s going through” but Kumail Nanjiani posts like. an average picture of himself eating dinner and that’s out the window I guess," reminded another user.

"Kumail Nanjiani is getting bullied for being ripped? Is it cause he’s not blonde or his name isn’t chris?" questioned one more.
