DC tells vaccinators to make anti-polio drive successful

Rawalpindi DC tells health authority to ensure proper administration of polio drops to children under five years

RAWALPINDI:

Polio is a national issue and it is the responsibility of all concerned to play an effective role to make the country polio free. This was stated by Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner Anwarul Haque while presiding over a meeting to review anti-polio arrangements at his office.

He directed officials of the health authority to ensure the proper administration of polio drops to children under five years of age studying in madrassas.

He went on to add that success of the anti-polio drive depended upon the attitude and working of polio workers.

However, he also pointed out that unfortunately Pakistan is one of the two remaining countries in the world, the other one being Afghanistan, where polio is still categorised as an endemic viral infection and collective efforts were needed to completely eradicate it from the country.
