Capital’s top cop calls for coordination among all police wings

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Aamir Zulfiqar Khan has directed all police officials to ensure elaborate security and high vigilance in the city to eradicate crime and ensure effective crackdown against drug pushers as well as proclaimed offenders.

He made these directions while chairing a meeting on the law and order situation in the city on Monday. The meeting was attended among others by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police (Operations) Waqaruddin Syed, all senior superintendents of police (SSP), assistant inspector generals (AIG) and zonal superintendents of police (SP).

The IGP directed to ensure a comprehensive strategy for improvement in the law and order situation, protection of the lives and properties of the public, timely justice and fight against crimes.

He informed the officers to use all resources at their disposal to apprehend those involved in the murder of Head Constable Afzal Janan, adding that every possible assistance would be ensured to the family of the deceased. The police chief further directed the officials to follow the National Action Plan and conduct combing and search operation on a regular basis.

He told all police officials to make efforts to curb crime in the city and appealed to the citizens to cooperate with the force in its efforts against anti-social elements. Khan called on all police officials to improve their performance by effectively combating crime and ensure arrest of proclaimed offenders at the earliest. He asked police officials to take effective steps to control crime and adopt a professional as well as responsible attitude to mitigate the sufferings of the citizens.

The IGP also called for effective coordination among all wings of the Islamabad Police and asked all SPs, subdivisional police officers, and station house officers for strict monitoring in their areas. He added that patrolling should be enhanced at important places and a vigilant eye should be ensured against possible suspects.
