The year 2019 was rather hard for model Hasnain Lehri. The 31-year-old lost his younger brother after the latter passed away due to a cardiac arrest in May of that year. About almost a month after that, Lehri remembered him in an emotional social media post.
Later, in May of 2020, when reports of his fellow model and friend Zara Abid passing away on the ill-fated PIA flight PK8303 emerged, Lehri went out to help in any way he could. The rumours prompted Abid’s brother to release a video message on social media, pleading people not to pay heed to any news of Abid’s recovery or death unless it came from her family. Speaking to The Express Tribune, the star had narrated the ordeal he and Abid’s family shared that fateful day.
"I lost my brother last Ramazan," he had said. "I've been through this. I know the pain." Now, in a heartfelt post, the model has dedicated his LSA 2020 win for Best Model to his late brother.
"I thank Allah for showering me with endless blessings and I thank my family for their constant love and support," he shared in an Instagram post. "I dedicate this award to my younger brother, whom we lost last year. It has been my biggest trial and a tough time for my family."
Lehri added, "For me, this isn’t just an award for creating art but the acknowledgment to myself that I am strong enough to be on my feet again. After his passing, I had no motivation. I lost faith in myself. One day, I was just sitting going through Facebook and saw my younger brothers’ old status saying, ‘Keep on making me proud’ which gave me the strength I needed. And because of his words today, I am holding my fourth award. I tried to stand back on my feet and Allah has always been there for me! Last but not least, I love my fans. This is possible because of the love and respect you show me.”
