ISLAMABAD:

As mercury continues to dip in the twin cities, locals rush to outdoor food joints serving delicious desi cuisine and dessert options. Just as every season has its own specialties, traditional winter delicacies enhance the overall experience of the cold and foggy nights.

The residents unanimously agreed that sarson ka saag made in desi ghee, makhan waley parathay, Kashmiri tea, panijiri and various types of halwas are some of their winter favourites. A food-enthusiast, Amir Usman, said that sarson ka saag served with makki ki roti is one of the most popular items in Punjab without which, he claimed, the winter season is incomplete.

“Tea parties in winters call for a great variety of sweet and nutty halwas,” a shopkeeper shared as large platters of halwas adorned with crushed nuts and silver varl could be seen to attract customers.
